2025 Video Surveillance Implementation Program

Client / Sector: Midstream Natural Gas

Location: Multiple Compressor Stations (Confidential Client)

Project Type: Multi-Site Security Infrastructure Upgrade

THM Services: Electrical & Instrumentation Construction, Fabrication, Communications Infrastructure Installation, Program Execution & Commissioning Support

Project Overview

The 2025 Video Surveillance Implementation Program was initiated following updates to the client’s Corporate Security Vulnerability Assessment (SVA) process, which adopted a top-down regional evaluation approach to assess security risks across operational facilities. The SVA evaluates the probability, consequences, and frequency of potential security threats and identified several compressor stations where physical security improvements were recommended.

Based on these findings, a program was launched to enhance security infrastructure at selected compressor stations through the implementation of modern video surveillance systems. The upgrades were intended to strengthen protection of critical infrastructure while improving the safety and security of employees, contractors, visitors, and operational assets.

THM was engaged to execute the electrical and instrumentation construction scope required to support the surveillance system installations across six compressor stations across Alberta and BC.

Execution was coordinated across the portfolio to maintain consistent installation standards while safely completing work within active compressor station environments.

The program included fabrication and installation of camera mounting infrastructure, power distribution, communications cabling, and integration with existing station electrical and network systems to support the new surveillance equipment

Business Challenge

THM Solution & Execution

THM Technical Services delivered portfolio-level execution of electrical and instrumentation construction services to support the multi-site surveillance system rollout.

Program scope included:

Execution planning was performed at a portfolio level, allowing standardized installation practices, coordinated procurement, and optimized labour deployment across all sites.

This constructability-driven planning approach enabled crews to mobilize efficiently between facilities while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule performance.

Results & Impact

Due to the successful delivery of the 2025 program, an additional six to eight compressor station security upgrade projects have been awarded to THM for execution in 2026, expanding the surveillance implementation program across additional facilities.
